Day 2 DESERT CAMP NEAR SESRIEM – Dawn departure from camp to
arrive at the park gate for sunrise, this is only about 3kms away.
We drive down an ancient river bed surrounded by towering dunes to
the 2x4 parking (around 55kms) and take a 4x4 shuttle into the
Sossusvlei area to appreciate the beauty of this place in early
morning light and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the region. We
explore this unique area on foot before heading into Dead Vlei with
its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn
trees, contrasting with a backdrop of huge dunes with their
ever-changing colours. We can either walk or take the 4x4 shuttle
back to our vehicle. As we drive back to our accommodation we will
stop at the famous Dune 45 and climb this dune if we wish or just
wander around the base. We return to Sesriem and visit the nearby
Sesriem Canyon, one of the few permanent water sources before
arriving back at our tented camp late afternoon to watch the sunset
over this spectacular desert. Overnight in twin share permanent
tents as above. Dinner prepared by your guide with assistance from
group. (BLD)

PLEASE NOTE: That this safari is run in a minibus and is a
combination of the Sossusvlei Express and the Etosha Excursion
Safaris. The itinerary above is a guideline only and whilst we try
to adhere to it there may be circumstances when it may change – for
example weather and/or road conditions, seasonal daylight hours etc.
Overnight stops on occasion may be altered from those indicated
above. We stay at a minimum of 2 of the national park camps
dependent on bookings during the busy season and also try to follow
animal migration routes whenever feasibly possible, therefore the
above campsites may alter. Please note that the above itinerary
reflects a Friday departure which returns to Windhoek at approx
18h00 on Thursdays, we do not recomend onward travel on these days.
If youselect the Monday departure please note that this itinerary
returns to Windhoek at approx 13h00 on Sundays and onward travel is
permitted later that same day.
